Our popular and classic limestone fireplaces can be used with gas fires, electric fires and real fires. We use quality Portuguese limestone, Agean limestone, English limestone and Umbrian limestone to make your made-to-measure customised and unique fireplace.

Portuguese Limestone

This natural matt finished stone cut straight form the earth. The stone is sedimentary rock formed over approximately 50 million years ago. The characteristic mocha coloured veins on the light back ground, intermingled with fossils of plants and animal life all add to the individuality of the wonderful material. To find blooms, lighter or darker veins, “wisps” of fossilised fern leaves & other unique features are not considered defects but are part of the natural beauty the earth brings.

Agean Limestone

This beautiful Mediterranean matt finished limestone is also a sedimentary rock formed over millions of years & quarried from the mountains of Turkey. The characteristics of this stone are its smooth texture, whitish base colour, speckled grain & small fossils rather than the veining of Portuguese Limestone. These natural unique features are not considered as defects but are part of its natural beauty.

English Limestones (Cotswold & Bath Stone)

Our English limestone fireplaces are made of limestone from the Jurassic geological period. The Bath Stone is mellow, open grained & light in colour with a slightly rough texture.

The contrasting Cotswold stone is typically the North Cotswold area being of slightly coarser texture, darker and warmer in colour. The naturally occurring fossils and even some small crystal forms are part of the stones natural beauty and should not be considered as defects.

All of our English limestone fireplaces are individually made by English Heritage approved stone masons so they are validated by a personal endorsed certificate to underscore the authenticity.

Umbrian Limestone

Our Umbrian Stone is sourced from the Mediterranean coast and carefully selected. Each piece is then hand sculpted into a product that combines supreme craftsmanship with style.

The standard honed finish of this stone is smooth in its appearance and silk like to touch, with a light beige/ oatmeal colour. An alternative antiqued finish is available on request. Both finishes will naturally feature occasional fossils and veins that add character to this beautiful material and make your fireplace unique.
