Wooden surrounds will bring natural warmth and beauty to any fireplace, with Pine, Yew, Teak, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Beech and Walnut are just a few timbers to name.  There are various colours and paint finishes you will be spoilt for choice.  That’s not to mention your choice of design.

Oak surrounds

Oak is our most popular material for surrounds, it is so versatile as it can be stained various colours to give it a contemporary or a traditional feel.  Being the nature of the wood a close grain will naturally give the surround a darker colour, whereas an open grain will give a lighter colour.

Pine fireplaces

Pine is a knotty soft wood, a popular sustainable material and a common material used in fireplace surrounds.  It can be stained or waxed in various different colours, most popular is an antiqued wax finish which gives a light brown distressed finish.

Mahogany fireplaces

Mahogany is a rich coloured hard wood which is among the most valuable materials in the world and is known for its unique pink colouring, which develops into a deep reddish-brown as it ages.  Unlike other wood products such as pine or oak, mahogany features very few knots or voids, this gives a smooth, even grain pattern, which makes it ideal for fine furnishings and fire surrounds.
